This study examined current phytosanitary pressures on coffee, farmers’ control strategies and their perceptions of chemical and biological pesticides. Field observations and interviews with 63 coffee farmers were carried out in the East, Littoral, and West regions between 2020 and 2022. High occurrence of coffee berry borer (Hypothenemus hampei) and anthracnose (Colletotrichum kahawae) was reported in the coffee farms. All farmers used synthetic pesticides, yet around half of the farmers wished to use organic pesticides. However, access to organic inputs remains difficult. Sustainable agricultural practices in the context of certification and European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) should be promoted.
